| How to Draw an Accurate Oval |
 | |
1. Put paper on a board. Divide it into four equal parts with two
intersecting lines. Using the intersection of the lines (C) as a center,
mark desired width (A)and length (B) of oval on the lines. |
2. Set a compass to reach from B to C (half the length of the oval).
Position the point of the compas on A and make a mark on each end of the
intersecting line: D and E. |
 | |
| 3. Hammer a nail into drawing at D and another at E. Tie one
end of a piece of string to nail at D; tie other end to nail at E. Adjust
string so that it is taut when pulled to A. | 4. Place a pencil against
the string and pull the slack taut so that the pencil moves behind one of the nails.
Draw the oval, letting the restraint of the string guide the pencil. |
